Third Mountain

Mining projects reshape the landscape by extracting resources and creating a “third mountain.” Using 35mm slides from MBR (Minerações Brasileiras Reunidas), the film contrasts the grandeur of these sites with the lasting environmental and social impact of mining.

Bio:
Tetsuya Maruyama is an artist and filmmaker with an MFA from the School of Fine Arts at UFRJ. He is the founder of Megalab, and his films have been screened at international festivals and institutions and are distributed by Light Cone in Paris.
